I have always been in love with tropical flowers.
San Diego is a colorful city, where you can see so many blooming flowers all year long. The red heart-shaped Anthurium, the orange Hibiscus, or the white Plumeria rubra… all these beautiful flowers can be admired everywhere on the streets. Nature is the greatest artist; it represents a treasure full of painting ideas. I feel so blessed to find inspiration everywhere I go.
Every time I see flowers, I just stop to take a few pictures. And I imagine how I mix the colors to highlight the beautiful shades. That`s exactly how I like to store color combinations in my subconscious.
I created this dress to wear it to an outdoor wedding in Los Angeles. I jumped out of my comfort zone and I created the dress backless – the back is fully exposed with the use of painted straps. I did a collage of contrasting floral patterns and sewed the dress from scratch, getting an asymmetrical composition.
The painted fabrics are decorated with a cotton blue ruffle and natural laces.
I paired the dress with my green and navy plaid strappy sandals to complete the look. I especially ordered these comfly sandals to match the dress.
